Losers Bracket: Episode 1

Welcome to the first episode of our brand new eSports show, hosted by our friends from vVv Gaming. Not only will you get reviews and interviews from The Gamers Garage, but now also the latest news from the world of competitive gaming. In this weeks episode, the team discusses ways to find sponsors, games that should be supported in eSports and the long debated subject, PC vs Console.

Jay Van Beveren is living the American Dream 2.0. You might remember him from his stint on a podcast called ‘Uncle Gamer Radio’ or his current participation in ‘Remember When’. Now his business card now reads “Project Manager, Promethium Marketing.” Our discussion covers the success of ‘Remember When’, how his perspectives on the industry have changed with his current job and he offers up some details on latest pride of Promethium Marketing – Tweet Defense. Because Jay wouldn’t have it any other way, there are plenty of tangents in this episode. I hope you can keep up with us. Enjoy.

Tweet Defense is coming soon to the iTunes App Store, check it out here – http://www.tweetdefense.com/

Episode 122 – You Will Die

It’s that time of the week folks, time for your favorite video game podcast on the net. This week we have some movie reviews for you and those being Gamer and Daybreakers. And of course, we have your video game reviews including You Will Die, Dark Void and Matt Hazard: Blood Bath And Beyond. Joining us this week as our special guest is Tedakin from Gametopia and SHHH from over at AllGames.com.

Every week I grace this small slice of the Internet with a rather lengthy post about a random video game topic of my choosing. What you don’t see along with the blood, sweat and tears is the man behind the proper grammar. Spoiler Alert – It’s not me. Each one of my submissions is analyzed with a fine tooth comb by my fake boss at Talking About Games, Larry. Larry is the Editor in Chief of Talking About Games. He makes sure the text you read on that site has all kinds of sentence structure and other kinds of grammatical goodness. It’s not easy, but I’m glad he’s around to keep all of the writing staff in check…and in good standing with the MLA.

Pretty short show this week due to some last minute changes with hosts. Nevertheless, we have reviews for Bayonetta and Army Of Two: The 40th Day. As well as another special Tommy moment that has to do with Killer Bees…again. Joining us this week as our special guests, is Patrick from Platform Nation and Ryan from vVv Gaming.

In this interview, Cupcheck chats with voice actors Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt. They discuss their recent book “Voice Over Voice Actor”. as well as their other projects including anime and video game voice acting. You may of even heard some of their work on the anime series Naruto and video games Price of Persia and the recently released Dragon Age: Origins. Head on over to their website voiceovervoiceactor.com to learn more about their careers or if you’d like to purchase their book.

Gamer’s Garage co-host Tommy checks out Microsoft’s Gameroom demo, recently announced at CES 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  We appologize for the poor audio.

B-19. This week I’m getting my “Gov 2.0″ on with some help from David Hale (@lostonroute66). He is a project manager and social media strategist for the National Library of Medicine which means we will be breaking out a lot of buzzwords and acronyms as we discuss how the USGovernment is starting to leverage social media including the pros and cons of using these various technologies. Other topics include South by Southwest Interactive (SXSW), the Semantic Web, something called “High Speed Highway Halo”, and finding the perfect cupcake in Washington D.C.

And just to be clear, the thoughts and comments expressed by David on this podcast do not reflect that of the Department of Health and Human Services or any other government agency. After all, we’re Just Talking.

Episode 120 – CES 2010

CES 2010 from Las Vegas has now come and gone. Tune in to find out what Tommy was able to check out and hear some stories from the CES experience. This time, Tommy was not the one to get completely smashed. Be sure to check out our photo’s of the event on Tommy’s Facebook page here.

As I walked around the floor of CES, I stopped by Razor, since I had talked to them last year, to see what they had this time around.  At their booth, they had a new Xbox 360 controller called the Onza, which I tested out with a little Halo 3: Firefight.  Let me tell you, with the ability to tighten up on the grips, it gave more precision to the shooting.  I was able to turn faster without going into the settings, and the ability to change around the buttons to my liking allowed me to add jump and crouch functions as I chose.  Reaction time has no lag whatsoever either.  Sure, the controller’s wired, but considering that Razor is behind some of the best PC mouses (and other peripherals) out there, I’m not complaining.  It really shows with this controller.

Hit the jump to learn more about this sweet controller.
